About AGIX

AGIX is an independent tracker of the companies building artificial general intelligence. It answers one question with data rather than opinion: who is actually moving?

What we track

144 companies across eight groups: frontier labs, AGI-focused start-ups, code, maths and science models, open-model groups, robotics and world models, generative media, safety and alignment, and compute. We add labs as they appear.

Where the numbers come from

  • Hiring: each lab's public Greenhouse, Ashby or Lever job board, read daily.
  • Funding: SEC EDGAR Form D filings, both by the lab and by special-purpose vehicles named after it.
  • Research: OpenAlex, the open scholarly index (CC0), by author affiliation.
  • Models: the Hugging Face Hub API, by the lab's organisation.
  • Basics (founders, HQ, year): public company information. If we aren't sure, we leave it blank.

How the leaderboard is scored

For each signal, labs are ranked as percentiles among those with a value; no value counts as 0. The score is the weighted sum, times 100:

  • 35% research & model roles open now
  • 25% SPV filings naming the lab, last 12 months
  • 20% papers with a lab author, last 12 months
  • 20% public models released, last 12 months

It measures activity, not quality or valuation. Big-company units don't use public job boards, so their hiring signal is empty.

Independence

AGIX isn't affiliated with any lab, fund, index, token or company using the AGIX name. Sponsors never change scores, and every sponsored placement is labelled. Nothing here is investment advice.
